The Magic of Bouddha

in Nepal

The view out my window in the morning

Staying near the heart of Tibetan Buddhism in Kathmandu is magical. Although the Bouddha area is far from central, it’s worth it. Every day I am swept into a constantly flowing river of spiritual practice. Buddhists turn out by the hundreds every morning to walk circles around the stupa, chant prayers, spin prayer wheels, talk with friends. Monks and laymen all converge to begin the day with worship.

Women touch their heads in reverence to a chorten as others circumnabulate the main stupa.

Monks return to their monastery
